Administration
Melissa Vogt, Principal
A native of Macon, Georgia, I graduated from the University of Georgia (Woof! Woof! Woof!) with a degree in Health and Physical Education. Subsequently, I honed my interests in environmental and experiential education in a multi-week Outward Bound rock climbing and backpacking experience in Maine’s White Mountains.
I began my career teaching at M.C. Riley Elementary School and have held assistant principal positions at Bluffton, Broad River, and Red Cedar elementary schools. Most recently, I served as principal at Whale Branch Elementary since 2018. I have a Masters in Educational Administration from Georgia Southern University.
I endorse the philosophy we have at MOES that the health and growth of our students come first, always. Their needs and their concerns drive us to create the safest and most supportive learning environment for academic, physical, and emotional growth to help them become confident, competent citizens.
Our students have faced challenges during the pandemic, but if we continue to focus on empowering, educating, and motivating them, we will persevere, preparing our young owls to be wise and positive contributors to society.
