About Us
Mossy Oaks Elementary opened its doors in 1962. It is a neighborhood school which has undergone many renovations since its opening. Over the years Mossy Oaks Elementary has been a traditional school; from 1994 until 2009, a year-round school. Mossy Oaks has served students from Pre- Kindergarten to 6th grade. The many mossy oak trees around our school are a symbol of our school enduring strength over the years. In the 1980s we adopted Marvin the Owl as our mascot’s official name. M.O.E.S blue and white represent the boundless potential like the sky. In spite of the many changes throughout the years, the students that graduate from M.O.E.S. are always in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing.
Mossy Oaks Elementary believes that the best education for children exposes them to new ways of seeing the world and themselves. Our educational program builds on a solid foundation in reading, writing, mathematics, and the sciences. The ABC Project integrates lessons in these subjects with the arts through performances, dance, music, and creative writing. Both our arts and STEM subjects utilize the latest technology to spark students’ excitement for learning as well as to develop practical workplace skills.
We know that students learn to appreciate the world around them by being in it: our outdoor classroom provides just such a setting. We seek to provide each of our students with the possibility for maximum academic growth and character development in a safe, supportive environment.
